The story behind it

I've been gardening since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. Starting with my grandparents gardens, I now design, install, and maintain gardens across Sydney.

When I was in school, I was heading towards a naval career. It hit me when I picked up a pair of secateurs, that horticulture was in fact the way to go.

From 2015 I started working at one of the local nurseries and expanded my knowledge base, and it was there that my boss, Dan, encouraged me to study in horticulture.

I completed a diploma of horticulture in 2018, and since then I've worked in Sydney, England and France in some of the worlds most renowned botanic gardens, historic gardens, private gardens and more. I've consulted on countless projects, planted thousands of plants over the years and developed a broad network of industry friends and associates to not only further my own learning and keep closely connected to the horticultural industry, but to maintain the connection with fellow plant lovers.

My passions lie in habitat, the promotion of sustainable best practice, and challenging the norm. Personally, I cannot stand symmetry. My designs are driven by the promotion of habitat, soil health, plant vigour, and biodiversity. I love seeing creatures in the garden, even the pests! Crazy, I know. But where there's pests, there's predators, and there's always an organic control for them if they get too rowdy. My attitude is organic solutions to organic problems, harmful pesticides and herbicides don't belong in residential gardens, and I think we drastically need to change our collective perception to meet the changing environment in which we co-habitate.

It's an ever expanding journey, and I cannot wait to see what's growing next!

A special thank you to John Heald, Cheree Johns, Daniel Yakich, Graham Ross AM VMM, and Linda Ross for their mentorship. I couldn't have done it without you.
